It all began several years ago when our founder, worked at the animal hospital where Greece Animal Control rents space. During this time she watched the beautiful animals coming in through animal control being routinely put down if not claimed by their owners. Working on her own, she managed to find homes for some, took some home with her, and transported some to Lollypop Farm, crying as she left because she would never know what their fate would be.
Before long, the groomer at the same animal hospital saw what she was doing and joined in to help. The groomer told some friends and it was not very long before Greece Residents Assisting Stray Pets (G.R.A.S.P.) was born.
In February 1996 the group became a 501C3 non-profit animal rescue organization. At first, there were only 5 women, and their husbands, working together to find homes for the animals and raising funds. It was not easy, but the group was dedicated and they kept going. Eventually, more people joined the cause.
Today the group has grown and there are more than 60 wonderful volunteers working behind the scenes to find new, loving homes for the strays and unwanted animals in the Town of Greece.
How can you help? Become a member, volunteer some time, adopt a pet, or donate what you can spare. Every little bit adds up and allows us to continue to help the homeless animals get a second chance at life and love.

G.R.A.S.P., Inc. Mission Statement
To provide rescue and haven to homeless, impounded, stray and owner surrendered animals in a lawful manner under the direction of local animal control officers.
To provide foster care, and veterinary care; in the form of required vaccinations, spaying and neutering services, and necessary medical services, and ultimately adoption services for these animals.
To increase public awareness of the stray problem in the local community.
To increase public awareness of the importance of responsible pet ownership, i.e. spaying and neutering, licensing and identity tagging, safe containment, and proper veterinary care of pets.
To act as an information base and referral service to the public in locating affordable services related to above mentioned issues and also a variety of other related services.
