“Someone was trying to LIGHT A CAT ON FIRE!”
One of our animal heroes works with rescue groups like GRASP to do critical TNR work (trap, neuter, release) with outdoor cats. TNR heroes care for outdoor cats, “trap” them for medical care like neutering and vaccinations, and re-release them when appropriate.
This is how she saved our Willy.
Willy got a terrible infection on the streets, and because of it he required surgery to remove and eye. This poor little boy has had SOO MANY trips to the doctor to finally get him healthy again, but life outdoors didn’t diminish his ability to love.
“Once I had him inside, Willy immediately climbed into my lap.” When his foster comes home Willy runs to her, climbs in her lap and even reaches up to hug her around her neck, “He was clearly loved by someone before he was lost outside.”
Most of the cats she’s saved clearly came from loving homes. In fact, only a fraction were truly ‘feral’ and needed to be returned to the outdoors.
We have no idea how Willy got outside. Often cats get outside and become too terrified to find their way back home. “Sometimes people move and just open the door and throw the cat out!”
Discarded like trash.
Outdoor cats face tremendous perils; diseases and untreated injuries, life-threatening weather, other animals like raccoons and dogs… and their worst danger - HUMANS.
“Another cat was full of lead. They were using him as target practice with a BB gun.” The disregard people show toward outdoor casts makes us sad. BUT THE INHUMANITY perpetrated against these innocent lives by humans MAKES US ANGRY!
Because of GRASP Animal Rescue and help from compassionate people like you, Willy is fully recovered and no longer in danger.
Today Willy is safe and warm in a loving furever home!
GRASP Animal Rescue’s Legacy Society is named in Willy’s honor. Members of Willy’s Legacy Society pay it forward to all lost animals in need and guarantee our noble, life-saving work for generations to come.
